LWVCM is cosponsoring the 6th Annual Voices From The Past--a unique living history event that tells the stories of our founding fathers, civic leaders, pioneering women, and a few interesting characters. Guests are invited to take a "spirited stroll" through Charlotte’s historic cemeteries and interact with portrayers as they tell the stories of the men and women who helped make Charlotte what it is today. Our own Suzanne Elsberry will interview Gladys Avery Tillet, suffragette, the LWVCM's first president, and years later...LWVNC President.

Voices From The Past launched in 2017 by The Mecklenburg Historical Association (MHA). Starting with the 2023 event, the MHA turned the event over to Historic Elmwood Pinewood Inc. (HEPI), to be used as a fundraiser to preserve, restore and enhance these historic cemeteries.
