For more than 40 years Linda Traum worked as a social worker with children and youth and their families, and later as a college professor. Her social work experience ranged from direct service, supervision, grant management, training, and consultation. Linda worked with culturally diverse populations in homes, hospitals, mental health centers, schools, and community centers. Linda returned to graduate school at the age of 50 to pursue a Ph.D. in Child and Family Studies, and then taught Early Childhood Development and Learning at Central Michigan University. Throughout her professional career she was an advocate for people of all ages who had limited resources, and who often went unnoticed by elected officials.
After retirement in 2020, Linda moved with her husband of 36 years to Charlotte and joined LWVCM. She has served the League in many roles since, including member, co-chair of the Education Action Team, First Vice President, Co-President, and Voter Services Chair. Linda has two grown children and three wonderful granddaughters. She also has two kittens and a senior cat. Linda is a lifelong learner and in her leisure time she loves to engage in art, nature, and travel. It is her experience that knowledge is gained through sharing ideas with others, reflecting on shared experiences and considering diverse perspectives. Linda looks forward to continuing her work with LWVCM as we collaborate and accomplish new goals.
